I hope everyone is getting ready for a great summer! The OHC Board has been working diligently to ready The Club for the season opening on Memorial Day Weekend. I am excited to be working with such a wonderful group of people who give generously of their time and energy to making The Orchard Hill Club a place of fond summer memories. Daniel Webster once spoke in a different context, “It is a small [club]. And yet there are those who love it.” For over 70 years, The OHC has hosted member families and their guests and has been a special place of lasting friendships and friendly competition. And so it is through the efforts of so many dedicated and loyal volunteers that we embrace the warm summer months and prepare for another season of swimming, tennis and fellowship at Glastonbury’s oldest swim club.
As we anticipate our official opening day party on Saturday, June 1st, much has been done to prepare The Club grounds, including an expanded concrete pool deck, pool light repairs, installation of an automatic chlorine pump and repairs to the existing bathrooms. It’s always amazing to see the grounds transformed after the long winter months into a beautiful setting thanks to everyone who participated on work days. I am also happy to report that The Club remains fiscally sound and membership has reached our cap of 150 families as we look to building a wait list for next season.
I look forward to meeting our many new members as we welcome them to The OHC this season. Thank you again to the many Board members who have made a seamless transition of the leadership team and I hope that everyone has a wonderful summer experience.
